Supportive Services for Veteran Families

Supportive Housing for Veteran Families (SSVF) promotes housing and employment stability among veterans and their families. Our program offers a supportive environment for veterans to receive services. Housing Stability staff provide counseling and advocacy regarding housing issues as well as supportive services.

Housing services include:

  • Temporary Financial Assistance
  • Housing Counseling and Advocacy

Who is Eligible to Receive these Services?

  • Be a veteran who was not dishonorably discharged
  • Have a household income not exceeding 50% of area median income (don't worry, we can help you find this out!)
  • Be currently homeless or at risk of becoming homeless
  • Be a single veteran or, a veteran that is head of household
  • For more information, please drop by our office or call us!

What information do you need from me?

To get you or, you and your family started, we need a few things when you come into our office. If you have any questions please, give us a call so we can work together. Our goal is to help you find the services you need.

  • State ID/Veteran ID for veteran and/or family members
  • DD214 or Service Summary
  • Social Security Cards for veterans and/or family members
  • Proof of income; proof of homelessness
  • Most recent bank statements; utility bill; phone bill

SSVF provides services for

  • SSVF “Traditional” Homeless services
  • SSVF Prevention services (Limited)
  • SSVF Shallow Subsidy
Shallow Subsidy provides long-term rental assistance to eligible low-income Veteran households at risk of homelessness. This program offers fixed rental support for up to two years allowing Veterans to maintain stability while building financial independence.
  • Rapid Resolution
Rapid Resolution helps Veterans quickly identify safe, alternate housing options—like staying with family or friends—before entering the homeless response system. By resolving a housing crisis early, the program prevents homelessness and supports short-term stability.
  • Returning Home
Returning Home provides homeless Veteran households the opportunity to relocate to communities where they have established connections—such as family, friends, or familiar surroundings—or to areas that offer greater housing stability and access to employment opportunities.
  • Voucher Fast
Voucher Fast accelerates the process of using HUD-VASH and other housing vouchers by helping Veterans quickly locate units, complete paperwork, and navigate housing barriers. The goal is to minimize delays and ensure Veterans can move into permanent housing as swiftly as possible.
