Interim Subsidy

CIS is committed to providing permanent housing and supportive services to vulnerable populations and people in need. The journey out of homelessness requires stability in order to be self-sustaining, and CIS programs are here to help.

SHALLOW SUBSIDY PROGRAM – INDIVIDUALS & FAMILIES

The Salvation Army Shallow Subsidy Program is designed to provide additional support to participants who have received Time-Limited Subsidy (TLS) assistance and need ongoing rental assistance to maintain their housing due to high rent burden and low income. Additionally, the program has prioritized 60 slots of dedicated Prevention services for individuals that have received assistance with their arrears and still need ongoing support to maintain their housing. The program provides individual with a subsidy ranging from 35% to 45% based on monthly rent, household income, and monthly expenses. This program strives to achieve housing stability and assist participants to work toward the goal of fully assuming rent. To be eligible, individuals and families must be currently active in a TLS and or Homeless Prevention Program and have a very low income below 50% AMI. Participants must be able to pay 60% or more of their total income towards rent.
